Gary Bennett, co-founder and partner of BEKK Solutions, the Sai Kung-based international marine surveying and contracting firm, has died. Last summer the big fit figure of Gary appeared most days after work with his business partner and mate, Bob Vaughan, at bars such as Poets, Anthony’s Ranch and sometimes the Duke of York. Suddenly he was hit by an aggressive cancer that in a few months cut his life short. Gary was quiet and reserved. He didn’t say much, but if you spoke to him, he was always friendly and affable. “Aye,” he would say. “Aye”. He was a large strong man who kept fit by swimming long distances in the Sai Kung pool.
