Adapted from the 1913 play Pygmalion by GB Shaw, My Fair Lady made its debut on Broadway in 1956 and was later adapted into a musical movie in 1964 starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison. It is also enjoying a new revival under the direction of Dame Julie Andrews in Sydney and Melbourne.
“I can’t help but believe that anyone is a little bit of a sucker for Eliza. She’s loud and quite annoying at times, but there is something about her pure intentions and ignorance to social rules that make her irresistible,” says Lauren Tuma, who will be playing Eliza in the upcoming production.
This production is led by an international team, mostly based in Hong Kong, with creative direction and choreography by Claire Johnson, direction by Candice Caalsen, assistant direction by Conor O’Grady, music direction by Enrico Narvaez Jr, vocal direction by Jessica Peralta, and produced by Kenix Ho.
My Fair Lady is presented by Face Productions, a Hong Kong company that brings quality community theatre and youth arts education in Hong Kong.
