Police received a report at 1:49 pm. The 59-year-old car driver suffered neck injuries, and was taken to Tseung Kwan O hospital. The 53-year-old driver of the truck did not sustain any serious injuries and was detained to assist the police in their investigation.

As a result of the accident, Hiram’s Highway was reduced to single-lane two-way traffic routed through the adjoining car park, and this resulted in severe traffic disruption. Later,  an internet user uploaded a car dashcam  to Facebook. It shows one of the truck wheels flying off and crashing into the left side of the road. The wheel hit the pedestrian barrier and then rebounded to the opposite traffic lane. The oncoming private car tried to dodge but it hit the front of the car. The other wheel hit the footpath, and then bounced back on to the road, but caused no damage.
