Kei Ling Ha resident Imelda du Toit has launched a maternity and baby photography business. “It’s an extension of my hobby as a travel photographer,” she said. “A friend got pregnant so I started taking photos and it began from there.”
Imelda charges $5200 for a new-born baby photo session, which can take three to four hours. Expectant mum, and perhaps dad too, photo sessions cost $4000. Imelda will visit your home, or outdoor location if you prefer, with her photography kit and backdrops if necessary. Afterwards couples are given 25 photos in colour and 25 in black and white on high-resolution digital files.
“I am a hobbyist, not really professional, but I do my best,” the South African native said. Sai Kung is now home, she said. “Home is where the dogs are.” Her husband flies for Cathay Pacific and they travel a lot. “Otherwise we are living the Sai Kung life, exercising and hiking. We have been here 10 years now.”
