Pak Tam Chung roundabout was packed with feral cattle yesterday evening, causing traffic chaos, as it proved impossible for cars to get in and out of the Country Park. In one of the more bizarre episodes seen around town, some people had dumped a load of dried grass in the centre of the roundabout, and this attracted the cows previously in two groups either side of the barrier.
Volunteers from Sai Kung Buffalo Watch and passers-by eventually cleared to cattle away from the road; the mess was still there this morning.
Comments from those around the scene include, “I don’t understand who would do this. There’s so much fresh, green food available all around us”; “It’s all over the place! Absolute mess and dangerous as the boy racers are gonna swing round that corner and plough into sleeping cows on the road. Idiots”.
Drivers are reminded to remember that this time of year many herds of cattle are on our roads. Slow down and be careful.
