Early this morning, around 4:30 am, a 4 m long sampan was set on fire 10 m from Sai Kung Public Pier at the bottom of Fuk Man Road. The fire affected a dragon boat and a sightseeing boat. Police officers extinguished the fire.
After preliminary investigation, the police believe that the cause of the fire was suspicious. The case was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Team of the Wong Tai Sin Police District. No one was arrested yet.
Around 10:00 am five residents of the Dawn Island Gospel Drug Addiction Treatment Centre on Fo Tau Fan Chau were weeding a grave site when one of them was bitten by a green snake. The four companions put the victim in a truck to take him down the hill to the pier and then take him to hospital for treatment. Unfortunately the truck went out of control and crashed and turned over injuring all the occupants.
The two most seriously injured were taken to hospital by helicopter, the rest by police launch to Sai Kung and then ambulance.
At 11:00 am, in another incident, a 6-year-old boy swimming with his family at Trio Beach got into trouble and was rescued by Marine Police. He was taken to the Sai Kung Marine Police Base for emergency treatment.
Police are investigating all three incidents.
