The body of a hiker reported missing Saturday night has been found near Tai Wan (東灣). The deceased was aged 45. It is understood that he was a seasoned hiker.
On Saturday the man, surnamed Hui, told his family and friends that he was going to hike to Tai Long Au via Chek Kang in Sai Kung. When he did not did return home, and no contact had been made with his family, they reported to the police around 5:00 am. After receiving the report, the Police, Fire Services and the Government Flying Service were dispatched to Sharp Peak and Man Fan Teng to conduct an air and land search operation, but could not find anything.
The search operation continued on Monday. In the afternoon, rescuers found a man lying on the grass near Tung Wan. After inspection, he was confirmed dead, and the body was identified as that of Hui. The police have classified the case as suspicious; the cause of death remains to be determined by autopsy.
