Hong Kong health and wellness chain JustGreen has shuttered all of its 11 stores without explanation. Founded 11 years ago by Helen Sung, JustGreen had stores in Discovery Bay, Happy Valley, Central, Wan Chai, Kennedy Town and Sai Kung. Another store trading under the Verde Organic brand, was operating in Landmark Mall, in Central.
The company offered a curated selection of more than 10,000 healthy, natural and organic foods, beverages, snacks, and supplements for special dietary needs, home & beauty products, and groceries.
A long message to customers posted on the company’s Facebook page gave no clues as to the reason behind the closure, although it ended with a promise “This is not the end, rather the beginning of a new chapter,” suggesting a return in some form may ensue.
“In 2008, JustGreen opened its doors to serve as a respite from the pressures of daily life inviting you into our home where balanced, healthy living is encouraged,” the statement read. “We understand that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to this and, for 11 years, we have strived to provide products catering to specific needs. The emphasis on service, which we consider our only product, has garnered many industry and lifestyle awards and recognition as an industry pioneer for which we are extremely grateful. As the concept of wellness continues to evolve, it’s been fun to be a part of this change. The journey with you all has been both memorable and delightful and one we shall forever treasure.”
