Two attempted burglaries at Habitat, Sai Kung

Two houses in Habitat at Pak Sha Wan, Sai Kung experienced attempted burglaries on the evening of 7 October.

Both incidents were in two units in Block A. In the first, around 8:00 pm the domestic helper was reading alone in her room, with all the other lights in the house switched off. She heard the door-bell sound and went to answer the door. When she left her room she saw an unknown man wearing a mask running down the front stairs.

Being frightened she locked herself in her room and called her employer, who was waiting outside the front door. They called the police who found  a glass door on the first floor balcony ajar with marks of forced entry. A 30 cm crowbar was found nearby. On checking it was found that only a watch was missing from a wardrobe.

While police were making enquiries in the neighbourhood a similar glass door on the first floor balcony of another house in Block A was also found to have been forced open. The family had been gathered on the second floor and lights in the rest of the house were off. Nothing was found to be missing.

Wong Tai Sin District crime investigation team are following up the case.
