Sai Kung Marine Police intercept speedboat and two vehicles; multiple people arrested; hundreds of barrels of illicit oil seized

This morning (8/7) at around 10:00 am, Marine Police launched an anti-smuggling operation in Sai Kung, arresting several men at the pier opposite Tsui Tong Road and seizing several barrels of suspected smuggled, illicit oil on a speedboat; subsequently, they also intercepted a truck and a private car on the roadside and at parking meters nearby, and found that the vehicles also had several barrels of the oil with an initial count of about 100 barrels (3,000 litres).

At the scene, social media reports, a plastic pallet was found on the pier containing more than a dozen blue oil drums, each with a capacity of approximately 30 litres. A marine police speedboat was located next to the speedboat in question.

About 20 metres from the scene on Tsui Tong Road, police also impounded a van containing several trays of gasoline wrapped in black tape. Detectives collected fingerprints from the van. Simultaneously, police discovered a suspicious vehicle in a nearby parking lot, with at least six drums of gasoline hidden in the rear, believed to be related to the case.
