Ben Casey and Lyndsey Cook started the sportswear, fashion and boards for everything business in January 2014.  They had longboards, surfboards, skimboards, wakeboards and skateboards.

“It’s bittersweet,” said Lyndsey about closing their Tak Lung Back Street shop in the old town.  “We’re sorry because we’ve put so much into it.  Sorry to see it go. But pleased by all the freedoms we will now have.”

Ben and Lyndsey are partners in life as well as business. They have been best friends for 13 years and became a couple four years ago.  Now they live together in Tai Wan.

Ben, born in Wellington, New Zealand, says he will go back to commercial diving. He is freelance and often works with Sai Kung’s BEKK.  Lyndsey comes from English and Chinese parentage and is a teacher.  “We are moving on and we want to go traveling together.”

Phat Shack has seen some splendid days as a backer of fun in Sai Kung. They sponsored Harry Clarke, the young Sai Kunger who is junior world champion for longboarding, and Kellan Osbourne, a local resident who races on the international circuit.

They helped set up longboarding competitions racing down the hills in the country park and at Po Lo Che. They supported the Aquaholics dragonboat team.

Lyndsey said they always tried to stock fashion and sports products from Sai Kung businesses.  Sai Kung designers Love North feathered accessories, Sue Tyson jewellery and Vicious Venom bikinis and bags were all on display at Phat Shack.

Both Ben and Lyndsey have spent most of their lives in Sai Kung. Ben was brought here at a young age because his dad got a job as an ATC controller, and Lyndsey because her dad was in the British Army. Lyndsey said, “What ever happens we will be staying in Sai Kung.”
