Twenty-one signed prints by Brian Tilbrook from the book Hong Kong Heritage are on display at the Victoria Recreation Club, Emerald Bay. They have been donated to the club by the world-class artist. It is running a competition asking visitors to guess which historic sights are depicted. Many of the paintings of the Marine Police Headquarters, former Supreme Court, Ohel Leah Synagogue, St John’s Cathedral and Sai Kung’s Sheung Shiu Village, among others, could pass for photographs.
Brian moved to Hong Kong in 1965 from Middlesex and discovered the VRC while hiking in Emerald Bay with his wife, Moyreen. He has been a member of VRC ever since. Brian is also a famous abstract painter of murals with work displayed at the Hong Kong Club, Academy for Performing Arts and other Hong Kong institutions. His most well-known mural is the one at Pacific Place that faces you when you come out of the bubble lift on the 5th floor.
The paintings are on display from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm daily, at VRC Emerald Bay Clubhouse, 210 Tai Mong Tsai Road, Sai Kung. Call 2792 2721 for further details.
