Two men were arrested yesterday over the serious wounding case that caused locals and visitors to scatter in Man Nin St on the night of Monday 2 October. Senior Inspector Michael Lai, operations chief at Sai Kung station, said it was a drunken incident. Some men got into a dispute over staring. The victim was assaulted by “a number of males with triad backgrounds, ” Michael said. Anti-triad squad officers based at Wong Tai Sin are investigating.
As BUZZ reported last week, at 9pm outside 94 Man Nin St a 31-year-old man and his 29-year-old girlfriend were attacked by eight people. Chairs, plastic pipes and brooms were used as weapons. The victim was left bleeding from the mouth. The police classified the case as “assault occasioning actual bodily harm”.
This is only the second blood-letting in a town street in about two decades, to our knowledge. Fifteen or sixteen years ago a restaurant owner walking with a money-bag to the bank was stabbed and his takings stolen.
