Outward Bound (OB) is daring thrill-seekers to abseil 1000ft down One Island East on 9 December 2017, a spokesman said.  Only 40 people will have the opportunity for Facebook stardom in what OB says is the challenge of a life-time.

Outward Bound claims the event will be a first for Hong Kong. Wrong. The Editor of SAI KUNG BUZZ once owned a public relations company that worked for British Airways. The agency organised a publicity stunt in the late 80s for the airline that involved a British soldier abseiling down Jardine House.
Similar abseiling adventures have been organised by Outward Bound UK on the Shard and Three Peaks. The team of instructors that took charge of those events will visit Hong Kong to train participants for the One Island East abseil.
Successful applicants will be required to put up money to secure their places, the OB spokesman said, without saying how much. In the run-up to the event they will also be asked to raise more money, which will fund programmes at OB for disadvantaged youngsters.
