Matt Snelgrove’s Christian rock school has announced a series of summer camps for kids seven to sixteen years old. Children get handed musical instruments and thrown into the deep end — they are in a band from Day One playing together and writing their own songs. Matt says it works. Just about every kid can learn to play in a band in a few days.
Matt and his wife Megan, long-time Sai Kung residents, run The Living Room at 90 Sun On Village. You can see it on the main road opposite the Esso petrol station. Matt, was a former pastor at The Vine Church founded by his dad, John. He says The Living Room aims to “develop God-given talents”.

Eight three-day rock school camps will be run through June, July and August. They cost $3600, but if you book quickly you can get a discount. At each camp kids will learn music theory, dynamics of playing in a band and together create lyrics and tunes of their own songs. At the end of each camp they perform in a concert for family and friends.
At Hebe Haven Yacht Club on 17 May you will be able to see the Living Room’s little musicians jamming from 5:30 pm.
