Commuters heading home to Sai Kung this evening had a double whammy with two traffic accidents causing long delays. After the 101 GMB crash outside Centro this morning, two accidents this evening made home bound traffic conditions hectic. One crash occurred outside the fire station in Sai Kung, the other at the exit of Tseung Kwan O tunnel.

The sudden rain storm after a very hot day – the hottest day in early May since records began – made the roads very slippery. The Transport Department stated that just before 8:30 pm Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Road slow lane was closed after a bus and car were in an a collision. Motorists could only use the fast lane.
Just after that, around 8:55 pm the Transport Department announced a traffic accident closed the highway to downtown Sai Kung direction near the fire station on Hiram’s Highway when a private car and a van collided.
Traffic is gradually getting back to normal at both locations.
