Jacqui Hamilton will launch her new salon at the former H Studio site on or before 15 September, she says. Aphrodite Hair and Makeup will occupy the 700 sq ft premises at first floor, Wan King Path, more or less above Standard Chartered Bank. Jacqui plans to run it with her long-time assistant, Suffina Yasmeen.
The salon will be Jacqui’s second. She ran one in Botswana where she met her bush pilot husband, Graham, when he came in for a haircut. They married in Zanzibar eight years ago. After Graham got a job with Heliservices they moved to Hong Kong. Tala’s in Sai Kung hired Jacqui so they shifted here. Now the couple live at Sai Keng with their rambunctious two year old twins, Braedan and Lachlan.
One year after giving birth to the boys, Jacqui started doing freelance hair at homes for new moms because she understood the high demand of new borns but also good hair makes us happy.
Through word of mouth her clientele grew so fast she needed salon space, so she teamed up with Peninsula near the 1A minibus site. Now Jacqui is branching out on her own.
Aphrodite will offer styling for Caucasian, Chinese and African hair as well as makeup for special occasions.
Suffina “does very good shampoo’s and head massage”, Jacqui said. Other services: family haircuts for all ages, ammonia free highlights and colouring, Brazilian blowout anti frizz treatments, hair extensions and deep conditioning treatment.
Jacqui visualises Aphrodite as part of the Sai Kung Community and is very grateful for the support from local residents over the past year. “As our giving back campaign we are proud to be a sponsor for ImpactHK”.
