Sea View Villa, Sai Kung
A Filipina domestic worker was found unconscious in her employers’ home at Sea View Villa, Chuk Yeung Road, Sai Kung yesterday morning (23/6). Police received a report from the employer at 10:23 am saying that a 48-year-old Filipina domestic worker was unconsciousness in her bed.
After the police and ambulance arrived, it was confirmed that the victim died at the scene and did not need to be sent to the hospital. The cause of her death is still under investigation by the police.
Also yesterday, another Filipina domestic helper in her 20s collapsed inside an apartment in Rhythm Garden, Wong Tai Sin around 9:15 am. The helper was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she regained consciousness after resuscitation.
A concern group for domestic helpers in Hong Kong has previously raised concerns over an alarming rise in the number of domestic helpers requiring hospitalisation, urging authorities to limit the working hours of live-in domestic helpers to prevent them from being overworked and exploited.
