Two speedboats lose power at Shelter Island, Sai Kung; four people rescued by helicopter

Yesterday afternoon (24/5), a speedboat lost power near Shelter Island, Sai Kung. Another speedboat was called to help. However, after it arrived at the scene, it also lost power. The two speedboats were unable to leave and ran aground. The boatmen called the police and asked for help at 8:58 pm.

Rescue personnel rushed to the scene after receiving the report, and a Government Flying Service helicopter was also called to the scene to assist. Personnel rescued two men and two women (aged 46 to 70) on the two speedboats. None of them were injured and were rescued by helicopter and sent to Tuen Mun Hospital for examination. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
