Marvellous gift for your child: horse riding lessons at Lobster Bay

The Clearwater Bay Equestrian Centre is offering summer riding courses for children, four years and up, at $8500. This pays for 10 thirty-minute lessons.

Most children love horses and the riding lessons would make a lovely present or reward for achievement. The riding school is at the bottom of Lung Ha Wan Road at Lobster Bay. It has about 30 horses of varying sizes. Management is headed by Kerry Freeman who leads a team of instructors, mafoos and yard staff. The riding school, privately owned, has 47 stables, paddocks, pens and a jumping arena by the sea.

You can book a party for up to 12 children. Costing $1300 each and lasting for three hours this includes group pony rides, grooming session, stable tour, pony games and arts and crafts. There are also half-day camps at $1300. If you would like to have your own horse looked after by the riding centre’s staff, you can do this for $19,000 and up per month.

You can work there, too, if qualified. The Centre is looking for more instructors to add to its complement of seven. It also needs mafoos whose job is to look after the horses and maintain the stables and paddocks.
