
Sai Kung’s finest female fighter, Brindy Mason, has won gold at a Brazilian ju-jitsu tournament held in Thailand where she now lives. Brindy finished as the top fighter in the No-Gi professional absolute class as well winning a second medal at Gi purple belt professional.
The tournament was held by AFG (Asia Fight Gear) at Rangsit University. Brazilian ju-jitsu is combat sport involving grappling, ground fighting and submission techniques.
As a fighter Brindy is moving up into more competitive, bigger-money leagues. She has so far taken part in two Mixed Martial Arts fights, easily dominating her opponents, and is soon expected to fight in China. Brindy is a former Hong Kong and New Zealand ju-jitsu champion who has also won world titles in the USA. Her father, Vaughan, a New Zealand golf professional lives in Nai Chung Old village, Sai Kung.
