One of the most rigorous events on the Hong Kong trail running calendar starts today, 17 January. The Vibram Hong Kong 100 Ultra Trail Race is 103 km long, the Half 56 km. Last year the overall male champion was Shen Jia-sheng and the female champion Lu Yang-chun.
The Half begins at 8:00 am today at Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung, and the HK100 at the same time tomorrow. The trail wends its way around High Island reservoir, over hill ranges with views of the beaches and peaks at Tai Long Wan and over the MacLehose trail sections above Sai Kung with views south and north, then across more ranges to Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong’s highest peak, before the finish on TMS’s lower slopes.
Traffic disruption will occur at Pak Tam Chung this morning and tomorrow morning as hundreds of runners gather for the Off.
