Further to my recent visit to Sai Kung, below are the updates on the fire safety improvements at three five-storey composite buildings in Sai Kung town – 6-8 Yi Chun Street (above “Harrods”), 83-85 Man Nin Street (above Cheung Kee), and 74-76 Po Tung Street (above Thomas Tang, Surveyors).

The Fire Services Department requires the installation of emergency lighting systems in the non-domestic parts of composite buildings at Man Nin Street. The incorporated owners’ corporation of the building at Man Nin Street conducted a special general meeting in late December to discuss building maintenance affairs, including the participation of Smart Tender of the Urban Renewal Authority.

The Building Authority instructed the demolition of the unauthorised building works and the reinstatement of the buildings in accordance with the original plans of the Architectural Services Department.
