Police in Sai Kung seize $570,000 worth of drugs, including cannabis products; arrest 35-year-old driver

Police report that officers from the East Kowloon Regional Emergency Unit discovered a suspicious light goods vehicle while setting up a roadblock near Yan Yee Road on Tai Mong Tsai Road in Sai Kung at around 9:00 pm last night (3/2). They intercepted and searched the vehicle.

Officers seized 335 packets of suspected marijuana weighing approximately 3.7 kilograms, 15 suspected marijuana cigarettes, 86 suspected e-cigarettes containing cannabis oil, and 33 suspected “drug stamps” from the vehicle. The total market value of the seized drugs was approximately HK$570,000.

Police dogs were subsequently called to the scene to assist in the search of the vehicle. Following preliminary investigations, officers arrested the 35-year-old local male driver on suspicion of “trafficking in dangerous drugs.” He is currently being detained for investigation. The case has been handed over to the Wong Tai Sin District Criminal Investigation Team 8 for follow-up.
