A traffic accident occurred in Sai Kung today (13/6) around 3:20 pm, when a taxi and a car collided on Hiram’s Highway near Po Le Che Road. Both drivers were initially trapped. Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and found six people injured, including the female driver of the car, the taxi driver, and four passengers, including two women and two children. All suffered only minor injuries, and at least three were taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment. The accident caused a major traffic jam on Hiram’s Highway with traffic jams stretching for several kilometres in both directions.

Online photos show that both vehicles were badly damaged with wheels coming off and landing in the middle of the road. At least three ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and a large number of firefighters rescued the trapped and injured. Online footage also shows the moment of the accident: the taxi was travelling towards Sai Kung, while the car, travelling in the opposite direction, apparently crossed the centre line and collided head-on with the taxi.

The Transport Department reported that owing to the accident, the entire Hiram’s Highway in both directions, near Po Le Che, was closed. Bus services along Hiram’s Highway were affected; Citybus route 792M and KMB routes 94 and 99 are being diverted.
