Three robbers who raided 232 Clearwater Bay Road with stockings over their heads hit the home of well-known TV and PR personalities, Tony Turner and Michelle Han.
They threatened the couple’s 24-year-old son with a knife and tied him up, before escaping with cash and valuables worth $70,000.
“We don’t want to talk about it,” Tony said, except to say that his son, who was not hurt, has recovered well. Tony and Michelle were undisturbed and slept through the robbery.
232 Clearwater Bay Road is also known as Air House. Its last reported sale price was $90 million. Michelle had a high-profile for decades as a TV presenter. She’s often seen in a battered pick-up truck taking her dogs up the road to Wong Chuk Yeung for exercise.
Her husband, who’s from Christchurch, New Zealand, is equally well-known as a PR personality. He first became prominent as PR Manager of the MTR more than 30 years ago, then moving into consultancy. He was Chairman of The Rowland Company, the PR arm of Saatchi and Saatchi. Later he had the same role at PPR. Now that has been taken over by Racepoint Global, an international consultancy, Tony is still there as Chairman for Asia.
He’s also a charity activist on the boards of Christian Action (headed by Sai Kung’s Cheung-Ang Siew Mei) and the World Wildlife Fund as well as patron of the Community Chest.
