The villagers of Ko Tong Ha Yeung have devised an unusual way of protecting cows found sleeping in the road. As many of us know, coming across a cow sleeping in the middle of the road at night can be very scary and dangerous for both the cow and the vehicle and passengers.
Sean Moran sent us a photo of the latest action. Sean said, “In our village people have been putting the cones out took direct traffic around the cows laying in the road at night for a while. I don’t actually know who else is doing it but it has been going on for a while. We just put the cone up again tonight to protect a mother and her calf. They were half on half off the road”.
Whilst this is a helpful measure, the fact is these feral cows (not ‘buffalo’: I have never seen a single buffalo in Sai Kung) are a nuisance and a road hazard, and they should be humanely and carefully removed via capture and/or sterilisation.
