Villagers unite to protect sleeping cows

The villagers of Ko Tong Ha Yeung have devised an unusual way of protecting cows found sleeping in the road. As many of us know, coming across a cow sleeping in the middle of the road at night can be very scary and dangerous for both the cow and the vehicle and passengers.

Sean Moran sent us a photo of the latest action. Sean said, “In our village people have been putting the cones out took direct traffic around the cows laying in the road at night for a while. I don’t actually know who else is doing it but it has been going on for a while. We just put the cone up again tonight to protect a mother and her calf. They were half on half off the road”.

  1. Whilst this is a helpful measure, the fact is these feral cows (not ‘buffalo’: I have never seen a single buffalo in Sai Kung) are a nuisance and a road hazard, and they should be humanely and carefully removed via capture and/or sterilisation.
