The Hong Kong branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society, headed by Sai Kung resident Peter Mann, held its annual charity ball on 19 May at the Ladies’ Recreation Club in support of the Little Life Warrior Society, helping children with cancer. Fellows and their guests enjoyed live music, dancing, a fortune teller and other entertainment. Live coverage of the Royal Wedding was an added bonus. Through an auction and lucky draw around £30,000 was raised for the charity.
The society’s next event will be a mentors’ reception at the Helena May, Garden Road, Central, on 28 May at 6:30 pm. You are invited, Peter says, if you have the interest and right background to be a mentor to a City University student. About 25 students (“mentees”) from the university will be present with their professors along with about 23 society fellows who are mentors.
