Around 5:00 pm yesterday afternoon, a body was seen floating face-down about ten metres off shore at Silverstrand Beach. The body was seen by a number of people on the beach, one of whom, an off-duty Marine Police officer, rushed into the sea to rescue him, and bring him ashore. The lifeguard and police were called.
The policeman successfully performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but the victim, a 50-60 year old man, did not recover consciousness. He was taken by ambulance to Tseung Kwan O Hospital, where he remains in a coma in intensive care unit.
Police could not locate any documents to identify the man, and have broadcast requests for information through the media and amongst people on the beach. The man is about 50 years old, ethnically Chinese with short hair, medium build and about 1.7 metres tall, wearing a pair of blue swimming trunks when rescued.
The man had still not been identified this morning. If you may have any information please call 3661 1630.
