Chief Executive Carrie Lam finally took time to see some of the destruction caused by super-typhoon Mangkhut yesterday afternoon. Accompanied by Sai Kung District Council Chairman George Ng, she spent a couple of hours visiting the Sai Kung Sewage Treatment Plant as well as the Marine Police Base. She then spent ten minutes on the Sai Kung Waterfront talking to some seafood restaurant owners and tourist boat operators.
Mr Ng told them that “recovery and maintenance, resources are not a problem, money is not a problem.”
According to Government Information Office, Mrs Lam has attended receptions, and various ceremonies for the Express Rail Link, at least five times in the first week after the typhoon, but never visited any areas in Hong Kong affected by the typhoon.
