A Correctional Services Department staff member was injured in an attack outside Pik Uk Prison, Sai Kung yesterday afternoon (1/11). The correctional assistant first class involved, who was about 50 years old, was attacked by three men with knives at the minibus stop outside the prison after getting off work at nearly 1:00 pm.
He suffered injuries to his head and hands and was sent to the United Hospital for treatment. The three assailants fled in a getaway car. The Correctional Services Department responded that it was deeply concerned about the incident and strongly condemned the lawless behaviour of the perpetrators, who are believed to be from the mainland.
Eyewitnesses indicated that the attack took place as the victim was walking to the minibus stop on Clear Water Bay Road heading towards Kowloon after finishing work.
The police cordoned off the area for investigation, with personnel from the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau also present to conduct inquiries. Bloodstains were found at the scene.was sent to the hospital for treatment and is in stable condition. Staff from the Staff Relations and Welfare Section are providing appropriate assistance to him and his family.
