Sai Kung police have asked BUZZ to help alert readers to illegal activities of tree fellers. On 25 October a villager in the Luk Mei Tsuen reported four suspicious males aged 30 to 40 in blue T-shirts and jeans had chopped down an incense tree. Senior Inspector Jacky Chan said when police arrived, the alleged tree fellers ran uphill.

The police launched a massive search yesterday bringing in officers from several units plus helicopters and dogs. The search will continue today. If residents see suspicious activity they are asked to inform the police, but not until they are in a safe place.

Earlier Chief Inspector Daniel Tsang had told BUZZ residents should also watch for suspicious men, for example, on public transport. If a stranger looks like he has been sleeping rough in the bush, contact the police.

The photos were taken by the police during their operation yesterday.
