Currently Sai Kung Promenade is dilapidated and is not put to good use. The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) has commissioned a landscape architect to conduct a study on the upgrading of the Sai Kung Promenade, and to propose a preliminary design scheme. The scheme will run from Man Nin Street to Sha Ha Road, with a total length of about one kilometre. The scheme aims to create a green promenade and is expected to be carried out in phases from 2020.
CEDD has released the preliminary design concept which would allow the integration of existing facilities, placing more green and leisure facilities behind the promenade, widening the area for pedestrians and activities.
The consultant’s plan suggested increasing the number of the flower beds and providing more seats, while providing sufficient space for more trees to grow. It also proposed more recreational facilities as well as replacing some of the older facilities.
