Budding entrepreneurs are invited to apply to StartmeupHK with their new business schemes and compete for US$5 million in finance and a prize of US$100,000. The StartmeupHK Festival is a creation of InvestHK, the government agency charged with attracting more businesses into investing in Hong Kong.

To have a chance of winning the finance or cash prize you must apply before 2 October.  During the month you will have to pitch your business plan to a judging panel. The grand finale will be in February at the time of the StartmeupFestival 2020, set from 10 to 15 February. Last year the festival at the Convention & Exhibition Centre drew 17,000 people from 54 countries. Three hundred people gave speeches and 400 set up exhibition booths.

InvestHK hedges in it commitments on finance and the cash prize. If you get through to the grand finale you “will have a chance to win a share of US$5 million investment and a share of a US$100,000 cash prize”. Nevertheless, serious money is behind StartmeupHK: multi-billion-dollar Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund.
