Update on planned protests – 19 September

Here is this week’s update on planned protests in Hong Kong. Not all of these may take place, but those for the next seven days are fairly certain. Also, owing to the fluid nature of the protests, some other events may happen at short notice that are not included here.

At the same time, pro-Beijing groups are also planning protests against the anti-government groups. There seems to be no centralised platform for coordinating these – at least not one that’s made public.

20 September: 6:00 – 7:30 pm. “Opposing HSBC’s Suppression of Union, Requesting Retreat of the Dismissal Decision” Rally. Chater Garden, Chater Rd, Central, Hong Kong

21 September: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. Clean HK. Pro-Beijing action mainly against Lennon Walls. All over Hong Kong.

21 September: 1:00 pm onwards. Airport Transportation Stress Test. Hong Kong International Airport.

21 September: 2:00 – 7:00 pm. Re-liberating Tuen Mun Park. San Wo Lane → Tuen Mun Government Offices (Not authorised).

21 September: 7:00 – 11:00 pm. Sit-in against Yeun Long terrorist attack. Yeun Long MTR station. (Not authorised).

22 September: 12:00 noon – 4:00 pm. “Shopping” in a Peaceful and Rational Way. Sha Tin New Town Plaza and Citylink.

22 September: 1:00 – 11:30 pm. Hong Kong Suck 4.0 – Territory-wide Transportation System Assessment. Various MTR stations – TBC.

23 September: 3:00 – 7:00 pm. Campus Lennon Wall Day . Decorate the school door(s), railings outside school by building Lennon Wall on them (Campaign initiated by Demosistō )

24 September: 3:00 – 11:00 pm. “1987: When the Day Comes” Citywide Movie Screenings. Hong Kong wide – For details on screenings, please refer to http://bit.ly/2md9ug3

24 September: 9:00 – 10:00 pm. Northerner Chorus – “Glory to Hong Kong”. Landmark North, 39 Lung Sum Ave, Sheung Shui.

Note: The student strikes/demonstrations at secondary and tertiary education institutions which started on Monday 2 September will continue, as will other continuing actions by various groups which we have not highlighted here.
