Barking deer rescued on Sai Sha Road after being trapped in roadside railing

An adult barking deer was trapped by a roadside railing on Sai Sha Road, Sai Kung, near Sai Keng Village last night (24 October). The deer was injured and bleeding from a a number of wounds. It is suspected that it ran across the road and panicked with the traffic.

SPCA staff received a report of the incident and sent staff to rescue the animal. The deer had a number of injuries including a back injury. Firefighters managed to open the metal bars and remove the deer. It was very stressed and a blanket was used to cover it as it was placed in a cage. It was taken by ambulance back to the SPCA Centre in Wan Chai for emergency treatment. AFCD are investigating the incident, and will take care of the animal when it has recovered.
