Three thieves broke into the garden of a village house in Mang Kung Wo Road at Kei Pik Shan, Sai Kung on 15 October to steal wood from an agar wood tree. They also killed a Labrador dog “Lui Sun” that had raised the alarm.

Closed-circuit television shows that while the thieves were cutting the trees one of the dogs, called Lui Sun, started barking to raise the alarm. All went suddenly quiet. When the owner, Ms Leung, went outside she found that the dog had been killed.

Ms Leung initially offered a reward of HK$10,000 but has now raised it to HK$100,000  and vowed to bring the three murderers to justice. She has posted notices around the area asking if anyone witnessed the incident or saw suspicious persons passing through the area from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on the same day to call her on 6850 9881.

Miss Leung has five dogs in her family. They usually play in the garden in the village house from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. She did not expect that a thief would cut the fence and sneak in to steal the agarwood tree. Lui Sun was their newest dog, and was closest to the family members; it had a kind and friendly character, and her death has made Ms Leung very miserable. The other four dogs, because they were now afraid of people, are hiding far away having possibly witnessed the killing of their companion.
