House burgled at Jade Villas; police to hand out free security devices

jade villa 2This story has been amended after talking to the victim. The original story was based on a police report that seemingly contained a number of errors.

There was another burglary in Sai Kung this week, this time at Jade Villas on Lung Mei Tsuen Road on Tuesday (26 November). The house is usually occupied by the house owner, her mother, son and domestic helper. The helper was spending the night away with a friends. The owner was woken by a noise. She said, “The burglar tried to get into my bedroom by opening the door handle. I heard it and woke up. I thought it was my son. I called his name, which scared him off (the burglar) and he went out the kitchen window.”

“It might help other residents to know he prised open the kitchen window with a screwdriver. Then put a rope through and attached it to the window latch and pulled it open. Residents need to be advised to fit locks and alarms.

“This seems to be how burglaries are carried out in Sai Kung. This is how it was done similarly in Wong Chuk Wan recently. The same MO over and over again, possibly by the same gang.”

Taking a look around the house the victim saw that a handbag and rucksack had been moved from the bedroom to the living room. On checking she found that HK$300 and C$80 were missing. The Crime Investigating Team from Wong Tai Sin are investigating.
