$7 million of smuggled goods seized in Long Harbour

The Marine Police Regional Task Force, the Marine Police Small Boat Division, and the Marine Police North Division together with Customs and Marine Joint Task Force personnel carried out a joint anti-smuggling operation in the Long Harbour area of ​​Sai Kung overnight 2/3 December.

During the operation, the law enforcement officers spotted six men carrying cargo to a suspicious speedboat moored at the shore in the north of the area. They suspected that they were carrying out smuggling activities. Some of the officers tried to ambush them, but the six men managed to board the speedboat and fled to mainland waters.

Officers subsequently seized 42 boxes of suspected smuggled goods, including bird’s nest, suspected pearls, mobile phones, mobile phone parts, integrated circuits and skin care products, at a total value of about $7 million.

The case will be investigated by the Customs Department. .
