Man loses lower leg in accident at Sai Kung farm

An industrial accident occurred at a farm in Pak Shui Wun, Clear Water Bay, Sai Kung yesterday morning (31/8). A 63-year-old male worker was operating a tiller. His right foot accidentally touched the blade of the equipment which severed his leg below the right calf.

The incident occurred around 9:30 am. While working, the man, who was not familiar with its mechanical operations let his right foot touch the tiller blade, and the lower half of his calf was severed. His colleagues called the emergency services for help. Rescuers arrived and sent the victim to the Eastern District Hospital by Government Flying Service helicopter.

His right foot and lower calf was placed in a black bag and sent to the hospital for reconnection surgery.
