Many people are taking advantage of the lockdown to take part in recreational activities and get some fresh air. Yesterday afternoon a paraglider in Sai Kung made a mistake in landing on the open ground in town and glided onto the road near the Sai Kung North Transport Interchange.
The dash cam video has been widely circulated on Facebook and on YouTube. As seen in the video, a truck and a bicycle were driving near The Hive when an orange paraglider suddenly fell from the sky. The person controlling the glider slammed into the truck and was caught underneath.
Fortunately, as the truck was able to stop and the paraglider pilot avoided a disaster. In the latter part of the video the pilot is seen climbing out from underneath the truck.
Police later reported the incident occurred at 3:12 pm yesterday (28/4). A 51-year-old man was paragliding and accidentally landed on Sai Kung Tai Mong Tsai Road at the junction with Mei Yu Street. At the time, a medium-sized truck was leaving Sai Kung along Tai Mong Tsai Road. Neither the 57-year-old truck driver nor the paraglider pilot were injured and both are assisting the police in their investigation.
