Tap Mun
Yesterday morning (31/10) a body was found floating in the rough waters off Tap Mun some 20 metres offshore. He was wearing a white shirt and dark trousers. Marine police retrieved the body, certifying the man as dead. He was taken to the Sai Kung Marine Police base where he was later identified as a 62-year-old mainlander.
The cause of death is unknown and will be determined after an autopsy.
Netizens reported online that the police speedboat approached the body a few times. However, because of the strong wind and waves, the police did not succeed in bringing the body to the boat immediately but took many attempts. A Government Flying Services helicopter also arrived if further help was needed. Those near the scene reported that although the body was clothed, the upper body was mouldy and swollen, showing that he had been dead for some time, and speculated that it may have floated from some distance away.
