The area had recently been converted in a “secret garden” with southern French characteristics. Not only was there a bathtub on the rocks in a Coastal Protection Area, there are also artificial stone tunnels and a retro cobblestone road 300 metres long. Reporters from Chinese language media, including Apple Daily, arrived at the scene yesterday and found that the bathtub had been filled and the stone tunnel was still there. The Lands Department had posted notices at many of the illegal structures and ordered their removal.

According to information on the Internet, steel ladders for accessing the pools in the rocks were installed in 2015, abut they were later removed on orders from the Lands Department. The bathtub was one of the features not removed and became a hotspot for selfies. It was 1.5 metres long and would not have looked out if place in an up market hotel bathroom.

Over the past couple of years wooden bridges were built along with several wooden benches near a tunnel, which attracted many young people, and even large families to take pictures. However when reporters and netizens visited the spot over the past few days they noticed that the bathtub had been filled with fine stones and mud.
