Woman snorkeler drowns in Lobster Bay, dies on the way to hospital

Lobster Bay

Lunchtime on Friday (12/3 ), a 60-year-old woman was snorkelling about 10 metres off-shore in Lobster Bay (Lung Ha Wan) in Clear Water Bay. She was seen getting into difficulties by others in her party.

The other swimmers called the police for help. A rescue vessel arrived and rushed the victim, who had fallen into a coma, to the Marine Police Base in Sai Kung. She was then taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital by ambulance. However, the victim was dead on arrival.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident, and the cause of death is to be determined after an autopsy.

Snorkelling accidents have occurred from time to time recently. Last year there were two similar incidents in Sai Kung waters.
