The 74-year-old male taxi driver was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 1.55pm. The 60-year-old private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for further enquiries.

A green taxi was driving along Sai Sha Road towards Sai Kung this morning, when it stopped to drop off a passenger at a bus stop near Wong Chuk Wan. Two taxis following also slowed down, but a Mercedes jeep behind them did not stop in time and crashed into the rear of the red taxi which was following the two green taxis, which caused a chain reaction creating a four-car accident.

The police arrived at the scene to find the 70-year-old red taxi driver unconscious. The police gave him first aid and called an ambulance to send him to hospital for treatment.

Traffic along Sai Sha Road was affected for an hour or so.
