The new ferry route takes around 15 minutes to get to Hong Kong Island
The “Tseung Kwan O (South) – Sai Wan Ho” ferry service was officially put into service yesterday (28/1). It attracted many residents of Tseung Kwan O South on the first day of service. The shipping company specially deployed a large ship with a capacity of 100 passengers. At 10:30 am it left on its maiden voyage with a passenger load of approximately 80% of capacity. It took about 17 minutes to travel from Tseung Kwan O South to Sai Wan Ho near the Eastern District Court.
The shipping company stated that it originally arranged a small ship with a capacity of 40 passengers, but due to greater than expected demand, it will be converted to a larger ship with a capacity of 100 passengers for the next 10 days.

The new ferry service charges HK$16.80 for one-way adults, HK$8.50 for children, and HK$8.50 for seniors aged 65 and persons with disabilities. Members of the “Fare Concession Scheme” who pay with a designated Octopus, can enjoy a discounted fare of HK$2 per trip. This route allows bicycles, pets and cargo onboard. The first two are charged an adult fare of HK$16.80, and cargo is charged HK$16.80 per 0.1 cubic metres.
