Anti-drug police in Sai Kung detain man suspected of being a ketamine dealer

Wong Tai Sin Police District Special Duty Squad officers conducted an anti-drug operation at about 5:00 pm on 13 July. A man acting suspiciously was seen near Tai Chung Hau Village in Sai Kung. They intercepted the individual and seized about 1.7 grams of suspected ketamine and a piece of paper with traces of suspected drugs. Subsequently, officers seized pieces of paper with traces of suspected drugs, an electronic scale and a small amount of drug packaging tools in the man’s residence. The man was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and possession of drugs and is currently being detained for investigation. The total market value of drugs seized during the operation was approximately HK$13,200.

Drug trafficking is a serious crime. According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Chapter 134 of the laws of Hong Kong, upon conviction, the maximum penalty is a fine of HK$5 million and life imprisonment.
