Proposed trial run of traffic control measures near Sai Kung Public Pier on weekends and public holidays

The Transport Department has submitted a proposal to Sai Kung District Council, to be discussed at a meeting of the Traffic and Transport Committee on 16 September 2021, to implement a trial scheme of traffic control measures on weekends and public holidays on the section of Fuk Man Road near Sai Kung Public Pier. This will prohibit the passage of non-public transport vehicles In order to improve the busy traffic situation that occurs regularly on weekends and public holidays in the centre of town.

The Department proposes to pilot the traffic control measures at the beginning of 2022. The trial period is initially set at four weeks. The trial plan includes prohibiting vehicles from eastbound Fuk Man Road or turning left from Wai Man Road from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, except for franchised buses, public light buses, and taxis.

Other vehicles, such as private cars, vans, non-franchised buses, etc., will not allowed to enter the relevant road section during the above-mentioned time. During this period, affected vehicles can turn right into Chan Man Street at the intersection of Fuk Man Road and Chan Man Street, or turn left into Wai Man Road at the intersection of Fuk Man Road and Wai Man Road. Loading and unloading activities must be carried out in the designated loading and unloading area of ​​Chan Man Street.

During the trial plan period, the Department will closely monitor the traffic situation and review the trial plan based on the traffic situation and data after the trial plan is completed, and will report the results to the Traffic and Transport Committee of the Sai Kung District Council in due course.
