50-year-old man attacked and stabbed in Hoi Pong Square

Around 5:00 am this morning (15/3), a man in his 50s was attacked by three men with knives outside the bakery at Hoi Pong Square, Sai Kung. His eyes, hands and feet were covered with blood, but he managed to call the police for help. The attackers fled without a trace. It is understood that the victim of the knife attack was a cook.

Ambulancemen arrived and treated the injured man on the spot, and then sent him to Tseung Kwan O Hospital. After the incident, blood stains and a meat cleaver were left at the scene. Police blocked the scene for investigation.

About 10 minutes later, the police received a report that a suspicious person had poured flammable liquid in an attempt to set fire to a private car at Pik Uk Tsuen Road in Clear Water Bay, but was stopped by passers-by. 

The police arrived and intercepted and arrested a 37-year-old man. Two long knives, masks, gloves and some gasoline were found in the car. 

The police classified the two cases as “bodily harm” and “arson”, and do not rule out a connection between the two cases.
