49 school staff and students were trapped at Wong Shek yesterday (8/6) owing to landslides and road closures at Pak Tam Au, Sai Kung. The school staff contacted the police for help.

Marine police arrived at the scene and dispatched a marine police boat to Wong Shek Pier, picked up the group safely and ferried them to the Marine Police North Division Operation Base in Sai Kung.

Honk Kong Observatory had issued a yellow rainstorm warning at 9:00 am and a red warning at 10:00 am. At one point, more than 100 mm of rainfall was recorded, causing landslides at Pak Tam Road in Sai Kung. By 5:00 pm, the Observatory cancelled all rainstorm warning signals.
